Learning French Part 1

I wanted Pipiri to learn a foreign language so around age one and a half (yes 1.5) I decided on French.

Being that her name comes from a beautful bird in the Caribbean Island of St. Barts and it is a French speaking island I thought why not start with French. And no neither my husband or myself speak French. But on our honeymoon to St. Barts we loved the beauty of the language and the kindness of the people.

So I ordered her a ton of baby/children's French books to start with...and wow are they hard to find...

We started with these books...I did the best I could with pronunciation.

My First Bilingual Book-Animals
The Everything Kids' Learning French Book
My First French Book
La Chenille Qui Fait Des Trous
Couleurs Nombres

We listened/listen to these...
Songs in French for Children
Un Deux Trois: First French Rhymes
Songs In French For Children

These are fairy tale books in French and English - easy to follow along with...
Easy French Storybook:  Goldilocks and the Three Bears(Book + Audio CD): Boucle D'or et les Trois Ours (McGraw-Hill's Easy French Storybook)

I like flashcards for foreign language...
French Flash Cards

We read and did the flashcards a couple times a week.

We listened to the CD's 3-4x a week - they have adorable easy to learn French rhymes that she loved to learn by heart.

The fairy tale books were a huge hit and still are...
