How do I lose weight?

This is the most asked question I get. And really the answer is quite simple eat less and move more.

Eat more nutritionally dense foods and less garbage... and move more... A lot more!!!

It's pretty much that simple.

Here's a few things I've learned over my lifetime of health and fitness.

1. I don't drink my calories. Whether it's a fancy coffee, alcohol, juice, or a smoothie... I simply just don't do it. There are so many empty calories that I just don't need. If you must have one of these..use it as a cheat treat once you have gotten to a weight you like and or a fitness level you are happy with. If not just skip it.

2. I stopped eating like a teen when I was in my 20s. This means fast food, fried foods, Mexican queso dip and chips, pizza, desserts etc etc.... You simply can't eat like that as you age. (Actually children don't need to eat junk food either). But as we age we gain weight when we eat like this so we have to stop. Again once you are happy with where you are then you can use them as a once a week cheat TREAT only. But don't do this until you are where you need to be or want to be. Because if you start back then it may be a very slippery slope.

3. I lift weights. This one is so huge! And I don't mean 2/3 pound tiny weights!! I mean you should be lifting weights on a regular 4 day a week schedule. Ok 3! But no less than that!!! (Bc I know most of you are saying 4 days that's too much...) Lift like a body builder (don't worry you won't look like one). What I mean by  this is stop the full body workouts. I'm sorry it just isn't cutting it. And please ladies get over the fact that you think you are going to get "bulky"!!! It's not going to happen!!
Schedule Im doing this week...
Monday legs
Tuesday back and bis
Wednesday shoulders and tris
Thursday abs chest
Friday legs again!

4. Do cardio! Now depending on how much "weight" you want to lose depends on how much cardio you will be doing. But a basic guide is 30 -60 minutes 6 days a week. Yep 6. And no walking your dog doesn't count. Sorry. And here's something you should try... Varying the workouts. Try something new. A new park to run in. A new piece of cardio equipment. Hills. Sprints. Treadmill. Just don't do the same thing day after day. It's boring plus your body gets so used to it. Change it up!!! Variety my friends!

5. Group classes... Ok ladies I know y'all love a group class but if you are chatting and not working out ...again is not cutting it. Buy a heart rate monitor and use it. It will tell you how many calories you are actually burning. Buy a hear rate monitor......I love this one....Polar H7 HR Sensor

6.  Food and Calories. You should know how much you are consuming. So for 7 days take a small notebook with you and write down every single bite that goes into your mouth oh and don't forgot those juices smoothies fancy coffees and alcohol!!! Anything that you eat needs to be logged. End of the week add up each day. I bet you will be surprised.

7. Time. "I don't have time...". I get it your busy. You work. Have kids. But honestly how many minutes a day are you Facebooking, instagraming, watching tv. Get up earlier. Workout with your kids. Find a way. You can do it!!!

8. Hire a trainer. It will be the best money you've ever spent. Hire someone you like. Hire someone that's experienced. You won't be sorry!!

9. Hydration! Start guzzling water. Plain ole tap water is totally fine. Start with 80 ounces per day. Make it your goal to drink at least 100 ounces. Your body will thank you!! Stop all colas sodas sports drinks...stick with plain h20!!

Peels... Glycolic and Salicylic Acids

(I have been using Glycolics and salicylic acids for decades!!!!! No filter and No makeup!!!)

Skin peels have been around for at least  20 years... That's when I started having them. I was in college and my dermatologist would give me a glycolic acid based peel I help with my horrible acne. I would stay clear for a few weeks then my skin would break out again. This was back when insurance would pay for peels!!! That was awesome!!! Now ummm not so much.

Peels ...whether glycolic or salicylic or lactic or a combo of several types of acids are applied to the skin can now be done by licensed aestheticians (that's me) or a Derm or even your MD..

I prefer to use lighter type peels with very little down time. As most people don't have the time to
spend hanging out inside looking like a lizard she adding their skin.

With milder peels... You can expect a fresh appearance immediately afterwards. Peels help with cellular turnover. Meaning chemically exfoliating the top layer off bringing forward your new fresh skin.

Mechanical exfoliation would be using some type of clarisonic brush or even just a mild baking soda and water mixture.

I recommend to my clients to start with a peek every few weeks until you get your skin where you want it. Then a maintenance of 1 per month.

Keep in mind that it is very important to use daily SPF even if you only plan to be inside as Glycolics and any fruit acids make your skin very sun sensitive.

Also make sure to keep your skin looks it's best that your at home routine incorporates glycolic, Retinol, antioxidants, and SPF!!!!

Or you will not only be wasting your money but your skin will not look the very best that it can!!!

Here are some of my favs!

Packing your food daily = Saving Money and Eating Healthier!

I have been a lunch and snack packer for so long!

It started out because I wanted to save money because I was tired of being broke.

So everyday for the past 12 years or so I pack food.

I pack my daughter, my husband, and my snacks before we leave the house every single day. (Oh. And waters)...

I haven't had any type of fast food in over 2 decades and my 5 year old has never had fast food. NEVER!

I know to some this seems crazy...but she also has never had any type of soda. Not even a sip.

So not only does this save a ton of money...But I never have to stop and buy food or waters when we are out and about...time saver!

PLUS the main reason is so that I know exactly what we are eating...what nutrients we are getting...

And hello have you ever been around a hungry kid or husband?

Ummmm....it's not a good scene!

It takes me about 3 minutes to do this...it's so simple.

I cut her organic apples...grapes....
She still loves squeezies.....so I pack them daily..(I look for ones that are fruit and veggie Puree not juice.
Peter Rabbit Organics, Carrot, Squash and Apple Puree
Plum Organics Just Veggies Sweet Potato
Bananas.
Justin's  - if you haven't tried these you are missing out!
Justin's Almond Butter - DELISH!!!
Pogo BPA-Free Plastic Water Bottle  - these are my favs! Mainly because they hold 40 ounces and not just 32.

Snack on!
Save money!
Eat well!

Eat real foods!

Completely Natural Bronzer!!

For the past year and a half or so I have rid myself, my house, my family of as many unhealthy products as possible.

Read Here for more about how I did just that. (Still a work in progress)....

So I truly only have a few products that I am currently using that have some questionable ingredients in them. One of those is my e.l.f. Bronzer and Blush  that I LOVE!!!!! Not only is it super affordable it is hands down the best color of any bronzer out there.

So I started researching a few different natural bronzers out there....and I just kept thinking surely there's a better way...one that I can even "make" perhaps....

I ran across a few recipes on Pinterest and on a few blogs....

So this morning after I showered I thought....I'm gonna make my own bronzer.

Of course little one was pumped to help out!

I went to my kitchen yes the kitchen...and sprinkled...(all organic of course)

Simply Organic Cinnamon
Organic Cocoa Powder

We then used a Mortar and Pestle to smooth out the texture of the ingredients....she loved this part!

We then put our concoction into one of these Empty containers

I whipped out my Large Powder Brush  dusted it across my forehead...temples...chin...and cheeks...

Viola!

What do you think??

I think it's awesome!! Plus I smelled yummy all day!!

Can't get more natural than that! Xoxo

Stuff!

"Stuff" don't we all have too much?
Stuff laying around.
Stuff in drawers.
Garages.
Attics.
On shelves.
In cars.

Stuff makes me crazy!
It truly causes me to have anxiety.
It makes my heart beat so fast seeing things all over the counter.

When I come in from being gone all day and I have to unload all of the stuff from the day...mail, my daughters creations, food, groceries, my husbands stuff...I can't do anything else until everything is put away...thrown away or recycled...or put into it's "place". Then I can breathe easier and relax a bit.

It is so easy to keep your stuff to a minimum when you are single.

Then you get married and combine your stuff.

Now you have double the stuff.

Then have a child or two and then the stuff piles to your ceilings...drawers are full...garages even worse!

Ahhhhhh! The stuff is taking over!

Here's my advice...

1. Touch mail once.
2. Clean out your refrigerator. Guarantee you have something expired in there.
3. Clean out your pantry. Same for here...bet there's something gross in there.
4. Go thru your medicine cabinet. Check all dates. Toss anything that has expired.
5. Give it to Goodwill. I make at least one trip a week. Yep a week!
6. Give it to friends. I give away tons of things to friends....clothes...food...jewelry...anything I think they might like.
7. Kids stuff is tough...do it while they are sleeping. Most likely they won't miss it. See number 5.
8. Take it to a consignemnt store...or do a consignment sale. I do these allll of the time!
9. Sell it on eBay, Craigslist, or Facebook now have easy to use buy sell trade sites. Make some cash!
10. If it's ugly...if you hate it....if it means zero to you...why do you have it? See number 5.

Declutter friends!

It's makes life so much simpler!

And it's so much easier to clean.

These are pictures of my own home. It has taken me several years to declutter and become more simplfied in my living. #alwaysaworkinprogress

Wavy beachy hair...what I use

Here's my newest arsenal plus Rogaine

ReadHere about my hair loss struggles and how I fixed it.

After using Olaplex  read Here about my love of it.

After towel drying my hair...I use my Rogaine on the front section of my hair. (Rogaine is a life time commitment 2x a day everyday....And yes it totally works!)

Then I spray all over with the Marrakesh  ...for my very long hair I spray probably 8-10 sprays....not much at all on the roots. All of the   Marrakesh products are natural and amazing!!

Then I spray the Mermaid spray from ear length down maybe 5 sprays. It smells amazing! Like coconut vanilla yummieness! And has all natural ingredients. Check out all of their products...Here.

Then the secret to beachy waves is this Bumble and Bumble Surf spray new version!  I spray it
on the bottom 6-7 inches of my hair.....it is for fine hair types like mine....I use the Bumble and Bumble Surf Spray original on occasion... But just on the bottom 2-3 inches. I would recommend the original to those of you with thicker (jealous) hair!

Both Bumble sprays work wonders to create beachy waves! Infused with sea salts...they help to create naturally soft wavy hair! Swoooon!

Before I blow dry I use My Amazing Blow Dry Secret ...this helps to not only protect my hair when I blow dry but it speeds up the drying process...for me about 2-3 minutes....typically it takes me about 5 minutes total to dry so this is a huge help! Yay! I discovered this product just about a month ago and I am thrilled that I did! Totally works! I also have Leave in conditioner by the same company...I
use it some in place of the Marrakesh.

After blow drying I will curl my hair away from my face...only the bottom half...leaving the ends out of the curling iron...

Then as a hair spray to hold the curl but not make it 80s style crunchy and helmety I use the Marc Anthony Oil of Morocco Argan Oil...I actually love this hair spray...not only is it Sulfate free (very hard to find in a hair spray)... But also makes my hair stay without being a hard and dry..

And lastly...if there is any humidity at all....I spray all over with the Anti humidity spray....holy grail. It is the absolute best product for those of us that live anywhere there is the horrible humidity! Until I found this spray...I would leave with decent hair...walk out the door and have the frizziest poufy mess ever! Ummm basically my whole life......so this is a heavenly product for me!

Yes yes yes I know...it sounds like a lot....but honestly it's just a few spray with different products...but these are the absolute best of the best products to achieve natural looking beachy
waves.

It only takes me from start to finish about 10-12 minutes total.

This was a really good hair day because for some odd reason we had no humidity!
This was after using a curling iron.
(Mini in the back eating:))

Natural waves here no curling iron used. Air dry only.
(Crazy mini photo bomber)
