Mally Beauty! Ahhhh! How I love it!

I love Mally Beauty! I have been obsessed with her and her infomercials for many years! How pretty she makes women look with just some gloss, easy eye shadows, high lighter, blush, and bronzer! And I love that her models are not all just super young women with perfect skin.

I love love love her makeup! They are all very highly pigmented and super easy to use!

The lip glosses are shiny but not sticky.
The eye shadow sticks don't move allll day!
The highlighter has been a staple in my daily regimen for many years!
Read Here about how I faux my glow.

Strawberry shortcake

I loved Strawberry Shortcake when I was little!
Well in fact I loved all cartoon characters...Smurfs, Care Bears, Garfield, Bugs Bunny, Flintstones..
However in the early 80s there were no television shows of Strawberry Shortcake...just the mass marketed toys...which I adored!

I have kept all "character" type toys completely away from her until last week that is....when she discovered Strawberry Shortcake on this vintage cup of mine.

So being that she doesn't watch TV...I didn't see the harm in buying her a few books and the little dolls. YES they are plastic....but it's the only toys that she has that are plastic ...the ONLY!

And when she plays with them...she makes up her own stories....using her imagination...incorporating whatever is around her in her play. Today while I was getting dressed she played with them for a solid hour with two rolls of toilet paper! Making them a dungeon for the dolls.

And when we made the shrinks dinks she played with them...making stories up about each one...using different voices.

So this hippie is just fine with these little plastic dolls!

Bolga Baskets   -  I have several of these baskets in different sizes and colors - we use them for supplies, art, playing store, carrying toys, silks...doll houses...

We also made strawberry mini muffins and little felt strawberries.

We made churches

I shoot for 2x a week studying religion with Pipiri. I am really enjoying the slow and sweetness of our curriculum and most importantly she loves it!  Image of God: Who Am I?

We made a little cut and paste church and then a Shrinks dinks church. Going old school!

We then also went to our church St Henry's for an impromptu field trip. The sweetest lady gave us a tour (even though we go to mass it's nice to go behind the scenes...it looks very different when no one is there). She explained to us many tid bits I didn't know about....it was very special to both of us.

Bird study / unit

Crinkleroot's Guide to Giving Back to Nature....we are loving our new science books!
My sweetie loves birds! We have been reading and studying the different types of birds in our area(TN) for many years. She can recognize birds by there song, by their color, and when she sees them flying by. I never knew anything about a bird until I had her! Nothing!

We now have three bird feeders, a hummingbird feeder, and a bird house. We have a huge slopped front yard and backyard...and lots of field open space behind our house. So we have lots of birds to study! This past week we had a red tailed hawk on our front porch...and a hummingbird hovered over Pipiri during school on the backporch.

This semester we have taken out study a bit farther...reading some new fun science books, drawing birds, and keeping a bird journal.

Low poo... What?

Ok so if you have not heard about Low Poo...here's what it is. Basically, instead of never washing your hair...or skipping days with smelly hair..(ahem mine two days after working out with no shampooing)..then you use this..

It's a very low studsing shampoo that won't wrench havoc on your hair. It keeps mine soooo silky and it won't fade your color. I'm in love!

Vincent Van Gogh

We started our famous artist study with one of my favorites... Vincent Van Gogh!

We read several books on him.
Touch the Art: Make Van Gogh's Bed
She played with her Van Gogh puppet..Artist Finger Puppet Set: The Great Artists
We wrote some facts about him in her famous artist notebook.
Lastly she drew her own self portrait after jotting down some specific facial features of herself...using  the bathroom mirror and Lyra pencilsLyra sharpener And  Watercolor paper.  I prefer to use really lovely materials for all of her art work. Not on a day to say basis..been when we are having school or she's creating something that I know we will want to keep.

Finished self portrait!!!
