Yes, I registered my 4 year old for kindergarten...as a homeschooler.....plus curriculum choices 2014-2015

We officially registered Pipiri this year as a homeschooling Kindergartner!

Being that she is fluently reading on a 3-4th grade level - it is time.

We have been "doing school" since birth so now it will actually count.

We have to log 180 days 4 hours each day.  Ahhh the pressure!

I am a research fanatic! I spend just about every night looking at curriculum.

It is a little bit Waldorf, a lot Charlotte Mason and Mater Amabalis, some very traditional, and sprinkled with a large unit study - very eclectic...just like us!

Sooo here's what I have chosen for  2014-2015.

For our Catholic Studies - we will be using a collection of books of "Living Books" - Charlotte Mason style.
New Catholic Picture Bible
Picture Book of Saints
Speak Lord I am Listening
Brigid's Cloak
A Is for Altar, B Is for Bible
The Monk Who Grew Prayer
Mother Teresa
The Spirit of Tio Fernando: A Day of the Dead Story
Stations of the Cross for Children
I also have many of the holiday books for the Catholic Mosaic as we used it last year as well...it is a fantastic book to use for Catholic studies. Adds so many lovely

We are going to start this first semester with the continent of Africa. There are so many lovely living books for geography!!
Children Just Like Me: A Unique Celebration of Children Around the World
We are also going to continue reading the Grimms Fairy Tales original version. I am not a fan of watered down literature or fairy tales. I like true authentic beautifully written original works only.
Pip can't get enough of these.
Albert Einstein said..."if you want your children to be smart read them fairy tales, if you want them to be smarter read them more fairy tales!"
The Complete Grimm's Fairy Tales

We will be using Math By hand a gentle Waldorf style math and I also plan to supplement with Singapore Primary Math grade 1 .

I chose to go with very traditional grammar and spelling. I have always loved very old books and have collected them over the years. I love this set of McGuffey Readers and Primary Language Lessons - there is no dumbing down in these books and they are easy to use!

We are going on our 2.5 year of Suzuki Violin and will continue private and group lessons. I also decided to start a composer study.
Color the Classics: Godly Composers (this has a cassette but you can see the how awesome the book is).

This book is a fantastic start for History. It shows how children lived so long ago - making it easier for Pipiri to understand things in the "past".

For our artist study we plan to study Van Gogh for this semester.
Touch the Art: Feed Matisse's Fish - for a younger child - Pipiri loves these - easy readers
Exploring Landscape Art with Children - this is a wonderful series for children! Great picture studies..

LOVE - Pooh and his friends!  These are the sweetest original AA Milne Pooh. Lovely - for all ages!!
We plan to reread these - there are poems, beautifully written stories  - I enjoy them as much as she does.

Nothing beats the original Beatrix Potter!  Nothing!  Pipiri and I have read these a hundred times - they are some of our very favorites!  We plan to reread them again this year.
