Second language learning ..French

Pipiri has had the most wonderful French tutor for almost three years! She has become a part of our lives and we love having her!!!

Read Here and Here about when we started taking French....

I truly believe that children can learn a foreign languauge through play amd thats exactly what Madame Green and her do.

Madame Green will set up little areas of play.. She comes with her "bag of tricks" which includes many trinkets that kiddos love..rocks, stuffed animals, music, small books, marbles, flowers, eggs...all setting a perfect stage for learning the romantic language.

Pipiri can now read many books in french. She knows about 10-15 little childrens songs and hundreds of french vocabulary.

Thank you Ellen for 3 years of teaching!

Learning French part 2

After about 6 months of Pipiri and I reading French children's books together...(read more Here about when we first started learning this beautiful language)....listening to CDs...and listening to French children's songs...I decided it was time to find a French tutor.

I found a wonderful wonderful wonderful tutor for Pipiri!

She has a Masters degree in French, lived in France for many years, and is a mom of 5 daughters! She is warm, creative, fun, loving, and a perfect fit for teaching Pipiri.

She has been coming to our house teaching Pipiri for over two years...once a week for about 45-60 minutes.

They basically play, do funny games, songs, read stories...all in French.

Pipiri has learned so much from her...and absolutely jumps for joy when she sees her.

I would say at this point she knows probably 400-500 words in French and is learning many phrases, poems, and songs. She has a delightful little French accent when she reads her French books.

Learning a foreign language has been a wonderful experience...I am so glad that we chose French.

We love Madame Green and could not be happier when she comes to visit!

Learning French Part 1

I wanted Pipiri to learn a foreign language so around age one and a half (yes 1.5) I decided on French.

Being that her name comes from a beautful bird in the Caribbean Island of St. Barts and it is a French speaking island I thought why not start with French. And no neither my husband or myself speak French. But on our honeymoon to St. Barts we loved the beauty of the language and the kindness of the people.

So I ordered her a ton of baby/children's French books to start with...and wow are they hard to find...

We started with these books...I did the best I could with pronunciation.

My First Bilingual Book-Animals
The Everything Kids' Learning French Book
My First French Book
La Chenille Qui Fait Des Trous
Couleurs Nombres
