We love love love fall around my house!
Nicer weather...fall clothes...boots...being able to be outside without sweating.....pumpkins...decor....Halloween...love it all!
I also LOVE teaching about things that happen in Autumn.
Thanksgiving.
Apples.
Leaves changing.
Columbus.
Native Americans.
Harvest time.
Baking.
So this week we have been doing it all! Reading some awesome books. Painting water colors. Writing poems. Reading reading and more reading. Baking pumpkin bread. Decorating with straw, antlers, ghords, and feathers!
Acting out stories is one of my little ones favorites things. And so easy to do. Great way to do retellings with younger students. We use our wooden characters. Or she may dress up like one of the characters. Or use her dolls to portrait each person in the story.
This is our poem book which is made from our wet on wet water color paintings. We simply cut them. Write the poems or prayers in each sheet. Hole punch. String jute rope. Voila!
The little drawing on the fireplace is actually a buckskin reproduction pip made after reading "The Legend of the Indian Paintbrush".
